What are the new China regulations?

On March 2026, China announced a new regulation that requires power banks to have a traceability QR code. 

Once scanned, that QR code brings airport officials to the online document of the Triple CCC certification.

This regulation was enforced due to a high volume of illicit power banks that had fake, sticked-on CCC certifications that were fraudulent.

What happens if my power bank does not have either the CCC certification or the QR code? 

If your power bank gets checked at airport security and does not have a valid CCC certification, there is a real possibility it may be confiscated on the spot.

Once confiscated, most travellers do not get the power bank back.

QR verification has also become increasingly important, especially for travellers heading to China.

None provide QR traceability verification, and even CCC markings are often absent, unclear or difficult to validate properly, thus massively increasing the risk of confiscation if these units were to be checked at the airport.
